Laporte out for up to six months with injury

The 25-year-old was stretchered off in City's win against Brighton before the international break and Pep Guardiola confirmed the extent of his injury.

The French centre-back injured himself after a challenge with Adam Webster.

– Five months, six months. Next year sure, January or February, said Guardiola about Laporte at the press conference ahead of the Norwich game.

Laporte is perhaps Manchester Citys most important defender, so obviously it is a big blow to the reigning Premier League champions.

Bury expelled from Football League

Two-time FA Cup winners Bury have been expelled from the Football League after 125 years of membership.

Bury are the first team to drop out of the EFL since Maidstone's liquidation in 1992.

League One will comprise 23 clubs for the rest of the season, with only three teams to be relegated.

An EFL statement read: "The EFL Board met earlier this evening and, after a long and detailed discussion, determined that Bury FC's membership of the English Football League be withdrawn after the deadline passed at 5pm today (Tuesday, August 27) without a successful resolution.

Dybala could miss out in Juves Champions League squad

According to the clubs sporting director Fabio Paratici.

The Serie A champions are open to letting the Argentina striker leave this summer, but would like to secure a replacement before sanctioning a sale.

"The market is open and there is interest, but there are no names closer to a sale. Dybala is a Juve player - indeed, he is a great Juve player. As I said, during the transfer market, there are discussions and negotiations", says Paratici.

Maurizio Sarri recently suggested Dybala could miss out on a place in his 25-man Champions League squad due to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Real Madrid sign Luka Jovic

The 21 year old have completed a six-year deal.

Frankfurt will pay Jovic's former club Benfica around £10.5m of the transfer fee.

Jovic scored 17 goals in 32 matches in the Bundesliga this season. In Europa League he scored 10 goals in 14 matches. Only Olivier Giroud scored more.

"Luka Jovic is a big loss for us. His explosiveness and scoring skills have spread throughout Europe and we've benefited not only from his goals over the past two years. But for us it was clear that there is a financial pain threshold", said Frankfurt's Sporting Director Fredi Bobic in a statement.

Wenger: "You will see me again in football"

The frenchman has admitted for the first time he might not return to management, but he confirm he is ready to take a new role in football.

Wenger ended his 22-year Gunners reign after the 2017-18 season.

Early this year he stated he intended to take charge of a new club, but that might not happen.

"You will see me again in football. As a manager... I don't know," he said.

"In this year I did a lot of charity work, conferences - and I enjoyed it, I must say, to be a little bit less in highlights and less under stress.

"I'm less intense, but I have a better perspective of what's going on. I see the mistakes managers make and I don't pay the price for it.

"I came to the conclusion I want to share what I learned in my life, because I think life is only useful if, at some stage, you share what you know.

Derby manager Lampard charged by FA

Following the Derby managers behaviour during his side's 2-2 draw with Birmingham on Friday, the FA has charged Lampard with improper conduct.

Lampard approached referee Simon Hooper after the full-time whistle at St Andrew's having watched his side drop points in their pursuit of a Championship play-off place.

In his post-match press conference, the manager revealed he felt that Hooper had denied Derby a clear penalty in the last part of the match.

"It is alleged Lampard's language and/or behaviour on the field of play after the conclusion of the fixture amounts to improper conduct," said an FA statement released on Wednesday.

Barcelona couldn't afford Pogba in 2016, says Barca president

The frenchman left Juventus in 2016 and was linked with a move to Spain and Barcelona at that time.

Meetings with his agent Mino Raiola was held, but when Manchester United agreed to pay £90 million for Pogba a year later, they dropped out of the race.

"In the summer of 2015, Paul Pogba was playing in Turin and we simply told Juve that, if one day they decide to sell the player, we would be interested", says Bartomeu to ESPN FC.

"When they sold the player, they told us what the offer would have to be and we couldn't afford that amount of money at the time.

"So he went to United, and he's making them better as a team because he's one of the stars of the world of football right now."

Sergio Ramos admits huge mistake

Ramos was charged by UEFA for receiving a yellow card on purpose during the last-16 match against Ajax in order to serve a suspension before the quarter-finals.

His side were leading 2-1 at the time but lost the second leg 4-1 and went out of the tournament.

"My fault"

"Absolutely it was an error and I take the blame 200 per cent," Ramos tweeted.

"As footballers we like to do our talking on the pitch but this season is not turning out that way,"

"Recent events have been disastrous and I'm not hiding. We are not hiding. We the players are primarily responsible and I, as captain, more than anyone.

"That's why I thought that the most honest way to answer the questions that are circulating around us would be to tackle them directly."

He explained: "There are certain commitments made and it never remotely went through my head that the game could have turned out as it did. The recording itself was scaled down as the game went on."

"Sanchez will leave Manchester United in summer"

Charlie Nicholas believes Alexis Sanchez is finished at Manchester United.

The former Arsenal star picked up another injury against Southampton on Saturday and is probably out for the rest of the season.

And that is the end of that chapter, according to Nicholas.

"It's been a shocker, I watched Manchester United with interest at the weekend. Marcus Rashford played out wide of the right and when Romelu Lukaku is fit, he looks sharp, he told Sky Sports.

"I think they're running down the clock with Sanchez. I think he'll be gone in the summer - that's the reality.

"They'll look at things and say 'what have you done? Not very much', and he gets injured a lot these days. You have to look at what United have got coming through and they've just given Martial a new deal so when he's fit, he'll be playing, he says.

Chelsea handed huge transfer ban

The Blues have been banned from signing players for two transfer windows after being found guilty by FIFA of breaching rules about signing minors.

The Premier League club have also been fined more than £460,000, while the FA face a £390,000 sanction.

In other words: A terrible message for Chelsea.

90 days

Chelsea have been given 90 days to rectify the situation concerning the players signed.

The club were found guilty of 29 incidences of breaching article 19, which relates to the transfer of players aged under 18.

MANAGER: Chelsea-boss Maurizio Sarri.

Hazard: Sarri style suits my philosophy of football

Sunday's huge 6-0 defeat at Manchester City left Chelsea sixth in the table. Sarri is now facing questions about his ability to deliver a top-four finish with his so called ‹Sarriball» approach.

It has also intensified speculation linking Hazard with a move to Real Madrid at the end of the season, but the Belgium international stressed that he believed in the way Sarri wanted Chelsea to play.

"All the managers I've played for have given me something, from when I started with Claude Puel at Lille to now with Maurizio Sarri," he told Chelsea's website.

"They all see football in different ways, which is why I'm the player I am. They have all given me important advice. Jose Mourinho was special, but the way Sarri and [Rudi] Garcia like to play is more like my philosophy of football."

Neymar OUT of Champions League-tie with Manchester United

Superstar Neymar will miss the two games against Ole Gunnar Solskjaers team, the french club has confirmed.

The Brazilian suffered an injury in a cup-game against Strasbourg on January 23.

"Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr. is expected to return to the field within 10 weeks," a club statement said.

"Paris Saint-Germain sends its strongest support and encouragement to Neymar Jr. to overcome this injury, with the courage and determination that the player has always shown."

Leeds United confirms Real Madrid signing

The Championship leaders have now boosted their promotion hopes by signing the spanish goalkeeper.

The 32-year-old, who won one cap for Spain in 2014, started his career with Real and rejoined the club in 2015 after eight seasons with Espanyol.

Casilla will compete for a starting place with Bailey Peacock-Farrell, who has played 31 games for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.

Pogba enjoying his freedom under new manager Solskjaer

The frenchman says he is loves the system used by Solskjaer after admitting the previous one under Jose Mourinho was "difficult".

"I'm enjoying playing football. It was difficult in the system [under Mourinho], the tactics we used to play. I like to be more attacking, pressing, play high, he says to Sky Sports.

"Sometimes I could go but defending is not my best attribute. Where I play [at the moment] we understand each other and I'm where I feel most comfortable.

"That helps me [having Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera behind]. I know Matic will be there and we can press high and I can shoot, pass… that's what I've been doing since the manager came. I know I have security behind me and I have the freedom."

Pochettino could finish his managerial career at Tottenham

The former Southampton and Espanyol manager insists he is happy at Tottenham and wants to stay there for a long time.

Pochettino has hinted he could spend the remainder of his career as Tottenham manager.

He went on to suggest he could look to replicate Wenger's reign in north London, and see out the remainder of his managerial days with Spurs.

"I have a massive, huge respect for Arsene Wenger. Because when people talk of his 22-years in charge of a club like Arsenal and all that happens in that period," said Pochettino.

"You need to be so good, not only a coach but the values you translate.

"That is why it's a little bit sad about the way he finishes in his club. For us it's not a business it's a passion. For all Arsene Wenger gave for Arsenal, to finish in the way it finished, it's a little bit unfair."

"I hope, or wish, to be here 20 years and decide to leave or to finish my career here. But I need to ask him, if one day I get the opportunity, if he is happy in the way he finishes. I don't believe [he did]."

GENTLEMAN: Arsene Wenger.

Seedorf eyes Premier League management

The midfielder played with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan, but never in the Premier League.

And that is a dream he hope to fulfill during his coaching career.

"I never got to play in the Premier League, so hopefully it will happen as a coach sooner or later," he continues. "It's the most exciting and enthusiastic league at the moment and it would be a privilege to be able to come and work here," he says to Sky Sports.

I'm not a player anymore, so I started from zero [as a manager]," he says. "Managers lose more than they win until they get to the big 10 clubs, then they start winning a bit more than they lose. But I think that 90 percent of coaches lose more than they win. It's part of the job. There's no guarantee of winning, even if you are the best players and the best team.

Ranieri: It is an honour to lead Fulham

The italian has replaced Slavisa Jokanovic as Fulham manager with immediate effect, the club confirm.

Ranieri has signed a multi-year contract at Fulham in what is his first job back in the Premier League since managing Leicester City, who he guided to the Premier League title in 2016.

"It is an honour to accept Mr. Khan's invitation and opportunity to lead Fulham, a fantastic club with tradition and history.

"The objective at Fulham should never be to merely survive in the Premier League. We must at all times be a difficult opponent and should expect to succeed.

"This Fulham squad has exceptional talent that is contrary to its position in the table. I know this team is very capable of better performances, which we will work on straight away as we prepare for Southampton at the Cottage."

Pogba: "Keep calling Man United outsiders"

Jose Mourinho's side turned 1-0 into 2-1 in the last minutes of the game. Paul Pogba says now that he wants Manchester United to keep being called "outsiders" after their surprise victory against the italian champions Juventus.

"It was great. We know that (Juventus) is a big team and, to be honest, when they scored a goal, we had nothing to lose, he said after the game.

"We carried on, we pushed and we know that we can be dangerous on free-kicks because they defend very well (in open play).

"I think it's always good to be the outsider, so people expect bad of us and then we surprise people. The most important (thing) is the three points."

Van Persie will retire after the season

Van Persie says he will retire from football at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old returned to Feyenoord last year. He made his debut for the club when he was 17 years old.

"When I have to stop? That is probably at the end of this season," he said to the media.

"I will be 36 years old and will have been a professional for 18 years. From the age of five, I've only been involved in football."

"I also do not believe that my return to Feyenoord has only been successful if we win the title," he added.

"How is it successful? This is actually it, if you look at the whole picture. I had lost the fun. That's not how I wanted to end, without pleasure. The fun has returned at Feyenoord."

Dean Smith says John Terry's return to Aston Villa was his decision

Terry announced his retirement fro football only to be revealed as a new member to the Aston Villa coaching staff.

Smith replaced Steve Bruce who was sacked after a row with disappointing results.

"I was told there was an opportunity to take John and I said if I speak to John I think we can both come up with good enough honest answers to see if we both want to move on with it or not," said Smith on monday.

"That's what we did. John and I spoke about it and decided it was right. If it wasn't we both could have said no but I felt it was a win-win for both of us. It was my decision to bring John in, yes."

Villa have not startet the season as well as they had hoped, but Smith insists that the club can still achieve promotion to the Premier League this season.

Sacking Steve Bruce was 'a mistake' by Aston Villa

Bruce was sacked by Villa after winning only one of their last 10 games in all competitions.

Villa reached the play-off final last season against Fulham. But after a complicated summer with financial issues and losing big players, Steve Sidwell and Craig Bellamy both agreed the decision to dismiss Bruce came too soon.

"In the summer, the infrastructure wasn't there, there was the news about Thierry Henry possibly coming in, the transfers and no one really knew what was going on with the club," Sidwell told the Sky Sports Debate.

"It filtered onto the pitch, which then showed itself in how they were playing. No one really knew how they were playing. There was no identity, which is what you need at a football club, especially a club of that size.

"I think it's a bit premature. If you want someone to get you out of that league, he's got the pedigree. He's done it four times, and with his man management and the players they have there I think they would have turned it round."

Pogba says United are stronger mentally

Manchester United cruised to a 2-0 win over Young Boys on wednesday night.

Pogba scored twice and set up the other for Anthony Martial in Switzerland, and says even those squad players who have come into the squad recently look at home under Jose Mourinho.

The first goal from the frenchman was world class. The captain later scored from det penalty spot after his characteristic "run" to the ball.

Happy with the team

"Obviously when you win you are happier, mentally we are stronger we get better, we change the team but even the players who come in feel already like they are in the team, and that's all we need.

"It's a very important win because it was the first game in the Champions League, we needed to start well and we did. We had the result we wanted, maybe the performance should be better, but we have the result and three points.
