Montella sacked – Gattuso new AC Milan coach

AC Milan have confirmed the departure of head coach Vincenzo Montella after the big-spending club’s below-par start to the season continued with a 0-0 draw at home to Torino on Sunday.

Former player Gennaro Gattuso has been promoted from his role with the Primavera youth team to take charge of the senior side.

It is not known if Gattuso’s appointment is on a temporary or long-term basis.

Former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti, sacked by Bayern Munich earlier this season, is expected to be among the leading contenders to replace Montella.
